Spain through the eyes of Russian immigrants: life, work, and cultural exchange
The life of Russian immigrants in Spain
In recent years, the lives of Russian-speaking immigrants in Spain have undergone significant changes. Even just two decades ago, most of these immigrants had limited opportunities to improve their lives, but recent events have allowed them to thrive and build a life full of possibilities. In this article, we will explore how Russians in Spain today can pursue better careers, buyreal estate at reasonable prices, and obtain quality education for their children.

Victoria's experience:
Victoria shares that some people have stereotypes about Russians, believing that they are always rude, drink vodka, and smile. Additionally, many think that Russians are wealthy and connected to the mafia, although there are also those who consider them smart and determined. In Victoria's opinion, Russians can indeed be less expressive than Spaniards and tend to be more contemplative. However, she has not encountered negative attitudes towards herself or her acquaintances, students, and colleagues because of their nationality.
To understand the lives of Russian-speaking immigrants today, it is essential to examine their work and pension situation. Many Russian-speaking immigrants are seeking various employment opportunities, ranging from software engineers and developers to legal advisors, accountants, and builders. Despite the fact that the employment rate among this group is lower than the average compared to immigrants from other countries, those who have managed to obtain residency can find jobs that match their qualifications or experience level, allowing them to live comfortably. As for pensions, Spanish citizens born in Russia can apply for a pension as soon as they turn 65, contributing at least 15 percent of their salary each year until they reach retirement age, just like any other citizen or resident of Spain.
Real estate in Spain
When it comes to real estate prices today, foreign investors are benefiting greatly from the low mortgage interest rates available through banks and financial institutions, which allow them to purchase property in various locations either for themselves or as investments.

Additionally, many Russians have been fortunate to take advantage of the fact that real estate prices remain relatively low compared to countries like Germany, thanks to the economic climate in Spain, which offers greater purchasing power when investing abroad.
Russian schools in Spain
Another important factor influencing the success of Russians is access to education for their children after moving abroad. There are many private schools offering international educational programs aimed at non-native speakers, as well as several Russian-speaking schools in Madrid specifically designed for newly arrived families who want to continue speaking their native language while living abroad, without losing touch with their culture back home. Thanks to such schools, available in all locations regardless of socio-economic status, Russian-speaking students can benefit from an appropriate educational environment that provides support both linguistically and culturally, allowing students to develop language skills while giving parents confidence that their children are receiving a quality education as they adapt to their new life in Spain.Andrey's experience:

Andrey's experience:
I noticed that there is a large concentration of Russian-speaking citizens on the Costa Blanca, especially in Torrevieja and Benidorm. This area has a very mild and warm climate, and the cost of housing is relatively low, especially if you choose accommodation near the sea. You can find many Russian-speaking communities and shops here.
I really liked that many people in Torrevieja speak Russian. In many places, including cafes and restaurants, there is staff who speak at least a little Russian. Of course, knowing English is also useful, but you can manage perfectly well without it.
In conclusion, it should be noted that Russians living in Spain today have many more opportunities than previous generations — they can now secure a stable income, invest in real estate, and receive a good education in reputable schools, allowing all families to live in comfort and prosperity, despite having left their home across the sea. No matter where you come from, there is always something here to appreciate: beautiful sunny beaches, breathtaking countryside — why not join those who are making Spanish dreams come true?
