What variety of schools exist?

In the capitals of various countries, one can find secondary educational institutions located within Russian diplomatic missions. These schools are open not only to the children of diplomats but also to all Russian-speaking students who enroll on a paid basis, with annual fees starting from2000 eurosIn such institutions, long queues and strict limitations on the number of students are usually not observed. Educational programs are implemented in Russian, following the generally accepted Russian education system. Graduates are required to undergo state final certification andUnified State Exam (USE)that allows them to receive certificates of the Russian standard, and sometimes even diplomas from the educational ministry of the country they are in.

Diversity of learning formats

It is worth noting that various formats of education are available in these institutions:

  • daytime form;
  • evening attire;
  • external studies.

The curriculum often includes the study of the language of the country where the school is located, as well as the choice of foreign languages. Additionally, there are private Russian-speaking educational organizations located in both capitals and smaller towns, where a significant number of Russian-speaking families are concentrated.

Differences of private schools

Private educational institutions differ from public ones by offering more flexible and creative curricula, smaller class sizes, additional language courses, and a variety of elective activities. However, such programs come at a higher cost—on average around6000 eurosover the year. Prestigious private Russian-speaking schools abroad typically have the necessary accreditations and adhere to the standards of Russian education, ensuring the issuance of certificates that meet Russian requirements, as well as the opportunity to take exams.State ExamandUnified State Exam (USE).

Additional learning opportunities

Typically, the training is conducted in Russian, and many of these schools offer their graduates the opportunity to obtain additional diplomas that certify their level of language proficiency.

  • Oxford English Academy methodologies;
  • Cambridge certificates.

You can also obtain certificates of professional qualifications (for example, tour guide, accountant, and so on). Many educational institutions also offer after-school programs and provide preschool education services.

Russian supplementary education schools

Additional Russian schools dedicated to education are mainly attended by children who are already studying in public schools in the country where they reside, or whose stay abroad is limited. Moreover, such institutions may be of interest to students who wish to deepen their knowledge of the Russian language, literature, history, and other key subjects offered in the curriculum of Russian educational establishments.

Structure of classes

Classes in such institutions can be held at different times, depending on the group format. Usually, the main program lessons start in the morning (this includes Russian, math, and literature), while for those who attend classes after evening school, additional electives related to the Russian language are offered. Prices for classes often vary depending on the number of lessons; on average, one class costs about5 eurosIn some schools, classes may be conducted in two languages, and in rare cases, Russian is studied as a foreign language.

In our current reality, the focus on the education of children from Russian-speaking immigrant families is centered around the Russian language, literature, and history. This is especially relevant in Montenegro, where students quickly acquire basic skills in the Serbian language and successfully attend local schools.

Nevertheless, many families choose Russian-speaking educational institutions so that their children have the opportunity to interact with other native Russian speakers and maintain a connection to their own cultural traditions. A similar situation is developing in Spain: Russian schools are quite popular among immigrants.

Studying abroad

It is worth noting that students often can only study abroad for a limited time during the academic year, but questions about specific conditions can always be discussed with the school administration.

In addition, Russian-speaking students have the opportunity to gain knowledge through distance learning programs organized by Russian educational institutions, private Russian-speaking schools, or educational establishments operating under the consulates of the Russian Federation.

To enroll in such schools, it is necessary to go through a selection interview and prepare the required number of documents, such as:

  • medical certificate (or its copy);
  • birth certificate;
  • diary or personal file.

In some cases, different documentation may be required, for example:

  • employment certificates of the parents;
  • copies of foreign passports;
  • notarized translations of documents into the language of the host country.

Russian-speaking schools in Turkey

There is a growing interest in Russian-speaking educational institutions in Turkey, making them in demand in the country's major cities. Many Russian students face challenges in local schools due to the peculiarities of the Turkish language. As a result, our compatriots prefer educational establishments where the primary language of instruction is Russian.

These schools also teach local Turkish and English, while the third language is often German. Graduates of such institutions often receive two diplomas: a Russian one and a Turkish one.

Example of a Russian-speaking school in Ankara

For example, at the Russian Embassy's high school in Ankara, education is conducted in Russian according to the Russian curriculum. This school only accepts students who are fluent in the Russian language. Currently, there are 94 students enrolled here.

Upon completing their studies, graduates take the Unified State Exam (USE) and receive a state-standard diploma. English was also taught at an appropriate level.

The educational process in the school is organized in various forms:

  • in-person
  • correspondence
  • family
  • self-directed learning.

This allows for taking into account the needs of each student. An additional educational program and specialized courses are also offered.

Russian-speaking school in Istanbul

There is another Russian-speaking school operating under the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Istanbul, offering four main educational pathways:

  • primary education;
  • general secondary education;
  • courses on the topic of "healthy lifestyle";
  • courses for "gifted children".

All these programs are conducted in Russian, and upon completion, students receive a diploma of Russian standard. Therefore, choosing educational institutions that offer instruction in Russian abroad is an important element for preserving the cultural identity and language skills of children from Russian-speaking families.
