Moving and Document Preparation in Moscow
I decided to start a new chapter in my life by moving in with my beloved with the intention of getting married. Preparing the necessary documents in Moscow took almost six months due to the need to reissue them according to the requirements. One of the most challenging moments was obtaining a birth certificate from Turkmenistan, a country with restricted information, which delayed the entire process by several months.
Registration in Spain and Obtaining NIE
Upon arriving in Spain, I was quickly registered, but to obtain the NIE, I had to provide various documents, such as an employment contract or a marriage certificate. The process of formalizing the marriage turned out to be quite complicated and required numerous interviews to confirm our sincerity.
Adaptation in a New Country
Adapting has been a real challenge: without familiar faces and with a poor command of the local language, I faced significant difficulties. At first, it was lonely, and I didn't dare to leave the house without support. The language issues were overcome thanks to my husband's help and intensive Spanish lessons. I am grateful for the support, but I realize that for those who move alone, knowing Spanish becomes a necessity.
The Process of Adaptation and Returning to Russia
The adaptation process took a few months, my Spanish level improved, but even after a few years I can't say that I speak it perfectly. after a few years, I can't say that my Spanish is perfect. Returning to Russia today is for me a real challenge for me today, because the atmosphere in Moscow is very different from Spain: the rush and bustle versus the silence and slow flow of time. the slow flow of time. It's hard to imagine myself living in the capital again after all the changes that have taken place in recent years.
Spain is a place for development and relaxation.
Spain is unique with its rhythms of life, excellent opportunities for leisure and entertainment, as well as for professional growth. However, finding a job in the country can be challenging, especially without connections and knowledge of the Spanish language.
First steps in job searching
After moving to Spain, I faced challenges in finding a job as an economist. In the end, I decided to become a Zumba instructor. It wasn't easy to find a job either, but I managed to do so thanks to a chance meeting with another instructor who shared contacts of clubs that were looking for instructors.
Professional and personal growth
Right now, I am working at two clubs, feeling confident and continuing to develop by mastering additional areas and expanding the range of services. The instructor's pay varies, and there are higher-paying offers, but often this is associated with the need to spend a lot of time commuting.
Life and leisure in Spain
Besides work, I enjoy life, seek new experiences, and visit interesting places on weekends. The town of Cadaqués and Andorra are some of my favorite spots where I find inspiration and relax.
Final thoughts
The Spanish way of life refreshes with its ability to enjoy the moment. It's important not to forget about professional goals and to strive for development, because in Spain, there are always opportunities to realize one's potential.
Coaches in Catalonia

According to new legislation in Catalonia, it is now necessary to be registered in ROPEC (Register of Sports Professionals) to be hired. This ensures professionalism among coaches and opens up many opportunities for those with specialized education in this field.
Employment in Catalonia
I can confidently say that you can always find a job here if you are willing to learn and work hard. and hard work. Spaniards are not always eager to work hard, but Catalans have a more pronounced work capacity.

The roads in Spain are not only of high quality but also picturesque, making every trip exciting and memorable.

Prices for groceries in Spain can vary, but on average, a two-month food budget is around €400-450. To save money, Spaniards wait for discounts and stock up on groceries for several weeks in advance.

The prices for alcohol are also quite varied and can be both moderate and high. Overall, stores like "Mercadona," Lidl, and Consum offer a wide selection of products and a range that meets the needs of most customers.

Many have turned to Spanish cuisine to find substitutes for familiar products. This helps to adapt to the new menu. Health insurance in Spain can cost between €20 and €200 per month.
Pensions in Spain
Pensions in Spain are significantly higher than in Russia. The average pension in Spain is around €300-400. However, there are also higher payments – up to €3-4 thousand, regardless of profession or rank.
Attitude towards Russians in Spain
Attitudes towards Russians in Spain are diverse and depend on individual opinions. Some Spaniards believe that Russian people are reserved, drink vodka, and have close ties to the police, while others may have more positive views of Russians.
Some believe that Russians are persistent and intellectual. They say that Russians rarely joke, think a lot, and don't talk much. Compared to expressive Spaniards, this is indeed the case. However, I have never encountered negative attitudes towards myself among acquaintances, students, or colleagues.
The Spaniards have their own distinctive features. In the south, they differ from the inhabitants of the north, and the Catalans are generally considered a separate "category."
However, what surprised me was the high level of noise. Spaniards are too loud; it even seems like they don't know how to speak quietly. They laugh loudly and try to outdo each other in volume. In public places, you feel like you're in a market. Drivers park too close to each other, which is why almost all the bumpers have scratches like these.
However, Spaniards are very cheerful, friendly and smiling. They are always willing to help and show you to the right place. But they are very unpunctual, to the point where they can just forget about an appointment. They're live for today, enjoying life. They're very lazy: they're not in a hurry and if they can do something tomorrow. tomorrow, they'll put it off until tomorrow.
One of the main values is family. On weekends, family visits to the beach or restaurant are a must. The beaches in Spain are diverse and can satisfy any taste.
Recently, smoking marijuana in small amounts was legalized in Spain, and to be honest, it’s quite annoying. First of all, Spaniards are already too laid-back. And by using marijuana, they become even more carefree. Secondly, it often turns into a family activity, like with my neighbors: mom, dad, and their two teenagers sit on the terrace, light up, and chat.
Moving
I was moving in with my boyfriend – at that time, we had already decided to get married. The most difficult stage was preparing the documents in Moscow. I spent about six months gathering all the necessary certificates. Some had to be reissued because while we were processing some documents, others were already becoming outdated. The main problem arose with the certificates from my place of birth – I was born in Turkmenistan. And since it is a closed country, I waited three months for the documents to arrive from there.
After arriving in Spain, I was registered quickly, but I could only get a foreigner identification card (NIE) on the basis of something like a labor contract or marriage. I could only get a foreigner identification card (NIE) on the basis of something like a labor contract or marriage.
Adaptation
It was very difficult to adapt: I didn't know anyone here, I had a poor command of the language, and I hadn't found any favorite places. At first, there was a period when I didn't go anywhere without my husband; I really wanted to return to familiar places. Before moving, I had only ten lessons with a tutor in Spanish, so I arrived not with a zero level of the language, but with insufficient skills for normal communication. In the beginning, I always took a dictionary with me.
My husband was a great help: sometimes we even went to interviews together, and he explained many points to potential employers. But if a person is moving alone, of course, Spanish is essential. English is not very well spoken here; it's only known in tourist areas, and even then, not very well.
In three to four months, I fully adapted, and my language level improved to "more or less," although even now, after 4.5 years, I can't say that I know it "perfectly." But now it's hard for me to even imagine what it would be like to return to Russia.
Job search
By profession, I am an economist. Working in this field in Spain is quite challenging. In Russia, I also taught Zumba (a dance fitness program) and decided to look for a job in that area. However, it turned out that I only found my first position after three months.
As I said, I arrived in Spain in June, and July and especially August are practically dead seasons in the country. dead seasons in terms of fitness: most establishments close for the summer, Spaniards go on vacation, in September they start to return to the usual rhythm of life, and only in October you can really go to the gym. vacation, in September they begin to return to the usual rhythm of life, and only in October it is realistic to come across a job as an instructor.
- I found my first place by chance – another Zumba instructor came across my contact, wrote to me, asked if I could substitute for her, and then added me to a general WhatsApp group where they shared offers for Catalonia.
- At first, I took on almost everything that was offered, regardless of the location of the studios. As a result, I spent a lot of time and money on commuting, since Barcelona is huge. But I needed to "get a foothold," to blend in with the rhythm, to make a name for myself. Now I work in my city, at two clubs. I've mastered additional fitness disciplines and am expanding my range of services.
The average instructor rate is €15-20 per hour "net". You can find offers for €30-35, but more often than not, this means that the club is located in an inconvenient place. For example, on a mountain where public transport doesn't go, and you'll have to take a taxi. There are also fixed salaries, averaging around €1,200.
