How much money is needed to live comfortably in Romania?

What are the infrastructure conditions in this country, especially for families with children? How much does it cost to rent housing and buy groceries? These questions arose for Lily, who decided to share her experience.

Lily's personal experience

"My name is Lili, I am 30 years old and I grew up in Riga, Latvia. I dreamed of leaving Riga, as I almost felt happy there. Before I tell you about my new life in Romania, I want to share a a little bit of backstory."

Moving to Romania

“In July 2020, I visited Romania for the first time and immediately felt that this was the place I had always been looking for. Three weeks after returning from vacation, I moved here.”

Formalization of documents

“As for the paperwork, I have Latvian citizenship, which simplified the process. However, I still had to spend time on legalization. To stay legally in Romania, you need valid grounds, such as marriage, work, or study, along with the appropriate documents.”

Employment and language

“I was looking for a job and faced rejections due to a lack of certain documents. Regarding the language, I know people who live in Romania and speak only English. But I had a basic knowledge of Romanian, and I used it in my daily life about 90% of the time.”

Housing and food

“In Romania, there are various rental options, and prices depend on the location and condition of the apartment. Additionally, products are available in a variety of stores at affordable prices, making life in this country comfortable for families with children.”

Conclusions about life in Romania

Thus, Romania is an attractive place to live, especially for those who are looking for new opportunities and are ready to adapt to a new culture and lifestyle.

Living in Romania: pros, cons and more

When I talk about my experience living in Romania, I can't help but mention how this amazing country immediately captured my heart. Here, I found my place and fell in love with all aspects of life, from nature to local traditions.

Nature and Mountains

One of the first advantages that comes to mind is the mountains. The mountain landscapes of Romania are simply mesmerizing in their beauty and grandeur. Every day, when I step outside, I admire the view of the mountains that surround me on all sides. This adds a special charm to life and fills it with the fresh air of the mountains.

Cultural Life

One of the main joys of life in Romania is the various events and festivals that take place here year-round. Music festivals, fairs, exhibitions, and sports events - there is always something interesting and engaging for everyone in this country. I especially love the local medieval festival with its atmosphere of ancient traditions.

Prices and Finances

One of the pleasant surprises for me was the prices in Romania. They were really surprisingly affordability and variety. Even when I was alone, I could afford to save money on cabs and public transportation, because the prices here are really low compared to other countries. I could afford to save money on taxis and public transportation because the prices here are really low compared to other countries.

Hospitality and Relationships

An equally important factor for me when choosing a place to live is the people. The Romanian residents have left an indelible impression on me with their openness, friendliness, and hospitality. Meeting new people, I realized that here, the culture of communication and respect for each individual is highly valued.

Children and Family

What is especially pleasing is that Romania is great for children. There are many parks, sports sections, and events where families can spend quality time together. My kids love skiing and biking on the local trails, which adds vibrant experiences and joyful moments to our lives.

Financial Sustainability

Speaking about the financial aspects of life in Romania, it is worth noting that the prices here are indeed reasonable for an average family. Our expenses on food and services are moderate, which allows us to live comfortably and enjoy life in this beautiful country.

Bureaucracy and Bureaucratic Procedures

Of course, we can't overlook the bureaucracy, which can be complicated and convoluted. However, I have found my way to navigate through all these challenges and focus on the positive aspects of life here.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I want to say that life in Romania is a true adventure for those seeking new experiences, a friendly atmosphere, and beautiful nature.

How much money is needed to live in Romania: Lily's experience

My life in Romania

In general, my life is at what I consider to be the ideal level - something in between between the West and Eastern Europe. I've recently noticed that rental real estate prices this year have gone up a little bit this year. It is now possible to rent a one bedroom apartment starting from €300, and in new buildings from €350. Personally, I am still paying rent according to the old contract - €270 a month for a two-bedroom. The neighborhood where I live the neighborhood I live in is really convenient, everything I need is close by. As for buying real estate in Romania, I can I can say that the city of Brasov is developing rapidly, they are building a lot of new houses. I saw in an advertisement that for €90.000 you can buy a two-bedroom in a new residential complex, and a three-bedroom will cost between €100.000-€110.000. Near the city, 20 minutes away, is the most popular ski resort in Romania, so there are real estate prices increase 2-3 times.

Infrastructure and favorite places

Once, I came to Romania in search of a peaceful life for myself and my children. And I can confidently say that Brașov has an excellent infrastructure and there are favorite places I love to visit. The public transport in the city is really convenient, making it easy to get to the necessary places. Although there are issues with bike lanes, the authorities have promised to fix them, although there are no exact deadlines yet. The parks are very beautiful everywhere, and I especially like the parks in Bucharest. There is a lot of greenery, fountains, tall trees - and it's a couple of degrees cooler. I also noticed that there are many playgrounds in the cities, where you can always find something for the kids to do.

Active recreation and entertainment

Personally, I prefer active recreation, which is why I chose Brașov. I have always dreamed of doing sports, snowboarding, and here I have excellent opportunities for that. Another one of my favorite places is Vama Veche, a beach just 1 km from the border with Bulgaria. This beach used to be wild, a place where hippies would gather with tents and spend the night by the shore. Today, there are already shops, cafes, campgrounds, and hotels built here, but the atmosphere is still youthful and hippie. I love it here because of the rock music, interesting people, street musicians, and the opportunity to stay in a campground. My kids and I recently vacationed here, camping in tents. Next year, we plan to return for a longer stay, considering that the drive from Brașov takes about 8 hours.

Romania for nature lovers

Romania is suitable for those who appreciate beautiful nature around them and enjoy the four seasons.

Having lived in Romania for two years and having experience in seven different countries, I can confidently say that Romania is a place that attracts with its natural beauty, mountains, active lifestyle, and friendly people. The country offers numerous opportunities for recreation, sports, and active time with children. Prices here are more affordable than in many other European countries, making life comfortable and enjoyable. Bureaucracy can sometimes be a bit of a challenge, but the overall quality of life and the atmosphere make Romania an appealing place to live. I hope my experience living in this country will be useful and inspire new adventures and discoveries.
