Recent research conducted by the organization DECO Proteste shows that only one in ten Portuguese prefers not to turn to real estate agencies when buying a home. According to data provided to TPN in a real estate news release on January 17, 2024, most respondents felt the need for assistance from both online platforms and professional agencies. About 32% of those surveyed used online platforms, while 31% visited real estateagency websites. Of all the respondents, two out of ten ultimately decided to hire an agency to find their ideal home.
According to the study, the majority of survey participants focused on purchasing apartments – 65%, which also makes this type of housing the most sold on the market with the same 65% figure. The data indicates that most people prefer to buy or sell housing in urban areas, but not in the very center – 38% for purchases and 32% for sales. Areas outside city centers take the second positions: 26% of sold homes and 30% of purchased ones are located in the suburbs. Central city zones rank third in preferences among buyers – 23%, while among sellers, their share is 25%.
