What were the biggest and best stories in clean tech last week? Here's my opinion.
First and foremost, the biggest clean tech news story of the week that the world turned its attention to was the start of deliveries of the Tesla Cybertruck. Before the event, I wrote an article about what to expect. I'm pleased to say that everything turned out to be correct, especially my general assumptions about the Cybertruck's cost, which turned out to be higher than the forecast presented by Tesla for 2019. However, after the truck was delivered, we learned other details. I highlighted 11 interesting features, 10 concerns and 4 neutral notes based on a video report from Marques Brownlee.
The world's other major electric car maker, BYD, is much more modest but is making big strides forward. He just had his first transport ship built. This vessel can carry up to 7,000 cars at a time. BYD may build 9 more ships in the coming years. Get ready for more exports from BYD!
Talking about electric vehicle exports, Juan Diego Selemin Mojica offers an excellent analysis of how electric vehicles are becoming affordable in Mexico and Colombia.
In the battery field, CATL has created a 1,000-kilometer electric vehicle platform as part of its commitment to innovating and advancing the electric vehicle revolution. Naturally, more batteries = more range, but it's not just about cramming more batteries into the car. CATL continues to drive down costs and improve performance, and I think that explains why it is the world leader in electric vehicle batteries.
Global battery prices have reached an all-time low in 2023, and more declines are expected by 2030!"
Transitioning to powertrains, Hyundai has potentially flipped the perception of what goes on inside a vehicle with its new Uni Wheel. I can't explain it here. Steve made a serious attempt at it. But the best way to understand it is to watch Hyundai's video or listen to Jo's analysis in our YouTube program EVObsession, which will be released in a few hours.
In terms of trucks, Volvo's FH Electric has just won a big award. It is the first all-electric truck to win the prestigious International Truck of the Year award!
Transitioning to renewable energy, a New York-based developer has launched a $1.2 billion renewable energy fund aimed at solving complex decarbonization challenges.
The world's largest floating solar power plant is being built in Indonesia, at a hydroelectric plant.
One of the best combinations in clean tech is to install solar panels over canals, an unused space where there is no competition for land. Installing solar panels also helps prevent evaporation. Learn all about this new idea and how it can be applied in California and Arizona.
Another interesting and useful application of solar energy is off-grid charging for electric cars.

10 years ago, the first large-scale solar power plant was installed in South Africa. It's just another reminder of how far the industry has come in the last decade.
Few places understand the value of energy independence as well as Ukraine. In this regard, Ukraine has just started the second phase of construction of the largest wind farm in Eastern Europe.
NASA is developing tubeless tires for Mars rovers and lunar rovers, but could this technology put an end to punctured bicycle tires? I hope so!
I love our electric car sales reports and always recommend them. Here are the most recent reports and their key numbers: ...

I don't like pay walls. You don't like pay walls. Who likes paywalls? Here at CleanTechnica, we've implemented a limited paid subscription for a while, but it's always felt wrong - and it's always been hard to decide what we should put up there. In theory, paid subscriptions should have the most exclusive and best content behind them. But fewer people are reading them! That's why we decided to completely abandon pay walls at CleanTechnica. But...
