15 communities of small, efficient, and charming houses.

These small residential communities are popping up in cities and towns across the country. Although the global pandemic and strict zoning laws have made it difficult to purchase tiny homes in recent years, the popularity of these alternatives to traditional houses continues to grow. Tiny home communities can be found in areas of the country where friendly tiny home laws are in place. They are also emerging in other locations. Many renovated mobile home parks have become home to beautiful tiny home communities, and some small towns are embracing tiny homes as a way to stimulate their local economy. Several communities are even using tiny homes as a solution to combat homelessness. Below are 15 tiny home communities that are currently thriving in the U.S.

1. Escalante Village - Durango, Colorado.

The Escalant Village tiny home community is located among the La Plata mountains in Colorado at an elevation of 6,500 feet. The homes average 400 square feet and sit on lots that are 20 feet wide and 40 feet deep—enough space for a house, two cars, and a patio. These tiny homes are built with pine floors, walls, and ceilings. Additional benefits include on-site storage (for those who are not yet ready to fully part with their belongings in favor of a tiny home), river trails, a community garden, and award-winning fishing within walking distance.

2. The village of tiny houses – Bernalillo, New Mexico

A village of tiny homes in New Mexico is dedicated to creating a home for people who have previously been homeless. The community consists of 30 tiny homes, each 120 square feet, and also provides support, counseling, and much more for individuals without permanent housing.
