In the Brazilian city of Montenegro, police believe celebrity fitness trainer Deborah Michels, 30, was murdered by her husband, with whom she had lived for 10 years, and insensitively left for dead in front of her parents' home.

Deborah's body was found on a sidewalk in the early hours of Friday morning, January 26. The suspect, identified only as Alex, told police that he threw his partner onto furniture, after which she lost consciousness during a violent argument that turned into a physical fight. He then took her to the hospital, but after realizing she was dead, he left her on the sidewalk in front of her parents' home, according to local media. He has since been placed in police custody. The request to extend the detention was approved Saturday night.

Deborah's funeral took place on Saturday, January 27, and she was buried in the Montenegro Municipal Cemetery around 11 o'clock. Her outraged and heartbroken brother Alex Michels told local media, "This situation is outrageous.

We want justice for our family. No one should be left unpunished."

Her close friend Daisy Chemelo said: "Deborah was a magnetic person. She lit up every place she was; she only had friends, she only did good things. A fighter, an entrepreneur, you can't explain what happened. She didn't deserve it. We don't understand."

Police continue to investigate.
