Novak Djokovic's $40 million estate for training and living during the US Open: Everything you need to know

Novak Djokovic is preparing to fight for his fourth title at the US Open. The Serbian has always been a pioneer in the game, and his unique methods and mentality now inspire much of the tennis community.

Recently, Djokovic revealed that he has decided to stay at his friend's estate in New Jersey, just outside of New York, for the entire duration of the tournament. In 2020, Djokovic reportedly had a furious confrontation with the hotel managers where he was staying because the windows in his room did not open, and he was not allowed to go outside without a mask, which caused discomfort for him and his team. The estate is said to be worth a staggering $40 million. In fact, it includes a modern tennis complex. This allows Novak Djokovic to not only stay there with his family and team but also to train away from the press and public attention.

It is obvious that Djokovic has been renting this specific space for several years (except for 2022, when he was not allowed to play), as it meets his specific requirements much better than a regular apartment or hotel in New York, and it is certainly very spacious.

Novak Djokovic's house is just 24 miles from Flushing Meadows. According to NJ.com, the estate where Novak Djokovic currently resides belongs to former professional tennis player Gordon Yueling and spans 40 acres. It is located in Alpine, New Jersey, which is often referred to as the Beverly Hills of New York, as it is home to wealthy individuals who seek the quiet that is usually absent in the big city. For two weeks, Djokovic will be neighbors with celebrities like Stevie Wonder and Chris Rock. But he also makes sure to fulfill all his off-court obligations while enjoying his time in New York, which includes meetings with people like Lionel Messi.

The best part of the estate for Novak Djokovic is that it is only 24 miles from the main Arthur Ashe Stadium. This gives Novak Djokovic the necessary privacy and perhaps more freedom to strategize against his opponents, coming up with secret moves for the upcoming matches. Additionally, the estate features four tennis courts with different surfaces.

Djokovic calls it "All 4 Grand Slams under one roof." In an interview, the Serbian stated: "Usually, before the tournament starts, I am in the city (New York). When the tournament begins, we switch to full isolation mode. A friend of mine has a beautiful estate with tennis courts. That's where I stay with my family. We have a relaxing time. During breaks between matches, you can rest, recover, and have more energy. I just feel that the city is amazing, but over time it becomes a distraction. When the tournament starts, you need silence, just to live day by day."

Djokovic pays $40,000 in rent. According to BroBible, Novak Djokovic pays his friend a huge sum of $40,000 a year for the use of the estate. Although the results in New York have not favored the 23-time Grand Slam champion since 2018, Djokovic firmly believes in his methods. For a legend blessed with wealth, spending $40,000 is not a big deal, as his priority is to achieve the highest physical and mental form to remain dominant even at the age of 36.

Novak Djokovic is set to face unseeded Alexander Muller in the 1/128 finals match at Arthur Ashe Stadium, scheduled for Monday, August 28, at 8:15 PM Eastern Time.
