The 5 most expensive homes in Calgary, currently for sale

Although Calgary's weather continues to cool, the city's housing market remains red hot.

According to the Calgary Real Estate Board (CREB), 2,171 residential homes were sold in the city in October 2023, a 17 per cent increase over last year. "Sales activity was driven primarily by increased condo sales as consumers seek affordable housing options during a period of high interest rates," according to CREB's October 2023 Monthly Statistical Report. "New supply also improved this month compared to last year, reaching 2,684 units, the highest level for October since 2015. "

The unadjusted benchmark price for a residential home in Calgary last month was $571,600, up from $570,300 the previous month, an increase of 9.7 per cent from a year ago.

CREB chief economist Anne-Marie Lurie says it will "take some time" to see a shift toward more balanced conditions and ultimately "greater price stability. "
