Ayutia faced the threat of flooding

Ayutthaya has taken measures to strengthen the dams along the banks of the rapidly rising Chao Phraya River, which threatens to overflow and flood homes and historical sites.

Authorities reported that the river level continues to rise due to the increasing volume of water from the tributaries.

The industrial zones of the province reported on Wednesday that they have not yet been affected by the floods.

Governor of Ayutthaya, Nivat Rungsakorn, his deputy Pairat Petyuan, and representatives from the Office of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, along with the 3rd Regional Office of the Fine Arts Department, visited the historical site of Wat Chaiwatthanaram, one of the most flood-prone areas along the Chao Phraya River, and the surrounding territories.

They tested the strength of the concrete dam, which is 1.9 meters high and 165 meters long, protecting the historic coastal complex.

Nivat reported that the Chao Phraya River at the mouth, in Chai Nat province, is currently discharging water at a rate of 1,449 cubic meters per second, causing flooding in the areas of Phak Hai, Bang Ban, Sena, and Bang Pa-in in Ayutthaya.

Local authorities have warned residents to stay updated on the flooding situation and to prepare for evacuation if necessary.

In the meantime, the industrial zones of Ayutthaya have strengthened flood protection around their territories to 1.8 meters.

Viris Ammarapala, the governor of the Thailand Industrial Zones Authority, stated that the risk of flooding in industrial zones is low.

He noted that most areas have a functional drainage system and effective barriers.

Effective flood prevention measures in industrial areas were implemented after the catastrophic floods of 2011.

However, in Pathum Thani, Colonel Kamronwit Tupkrajarn, the chairman of the administrative organization of Pathum Thani Province, stated that parts of Moo 1 and Moo 10 in the Sala Khru area of Nong Sua District have been declared disaster zones due to severe flooding.

After inspecting the Raphiphat sluice gate in Nong Sua district, he reported that the Pathum Thani administrative organization has deployed 20 pumps, as more water is expected to arrive from Saraburi and Nakhon Nayok.
