Hollywood actor Ben Affleck has decided to sell his luxury villa on Georgia's south coast. Called "The Big House," this 6,360-square-foot mansion is located in the town of Riceboro, just 45 minutes south of Savannah, overlooking the North Newport River on Hampton Island.

The house was designed by Jim Strickland, founder of Historical Concepts in Atlanta, and built in 2000. Inside, the building features original architectural details such as pine wood return floors, arched fireplaces and 15-foot-high ceilings.

The ad says The Big House has three bedrooms in a Southern Antebellum Greek Classical-era Southern Antebellum house-style design; however, an article in the Atlanta Business Chronicle claims there are actually four.

But why argue about the number of bedrooms when there are other living spaces on the property? At The Oyster House, a 10,000-square-foot villa, you can find three master bedrooms and five bedrooms. For outdoor parties and dinners, you can relax on the terrace of Summer Cottage, an enclosed building with an oversized fireplace.

It's unclear why Affleck decided to sell his property, although there is speculation that family reasons may be the reason.

Affleck reportedly fell in love with the neighborhood when he starred in the 1999 film "Unstoppable Force of Nature," which also starred Sandra Bullock.

The listing was posted May 31 by realtor Richard "Dickie" Mopper of Engel & Völkers in Savannah, who did not respond to inquiries from Curbed Atlanta. However, there does not appear to be any accepted proposals at this time. Despite this, the $8.9 million price tag remains unchanged.
