It's no secret that the Algarve is a popular tourist destination. The region is a beautiful place to visit, especially in the summer. However, the Algarve is not just about beaches and resorts. This region of Portugal is also home to various art galleries and museums.

The region is a popular tourist destination year-round, especially during the summer months when the temperatures are high and there are plenty of beaches for relaxation. However, there are many interesting events to attend even in the winter months. In fact, several museums and art galleries are open year-round.

One of the most popular galleries is the open art gallery in Estombar, located at the Quinta dos Vales estate. This wine estate combines wine and art in a close connection, where you can enjoy stunning sculptures alongside award-winning high-quality wines. The artworks and sculptures featured in this gallery are truly incredible; it will be a wonderful addition to your trip to the Algarve.

He invited 26 talented artists and mosaicists from different countries, each with their own nationalities and backgrounds, to express their own interpretation of the theme "Evolution." This was the only common guideline, and apart from that, the artists were free in their artistic expression. The transformation of two-dimensional paintings and mosaics into three-dimensional sculptures was an exciting new experience for all participants. Most of the artworks had already been part of traveling exhibitions that took place across Europe.

Another unique project that inspired the participating artists was created as part of the "Passion" project. Additionally, a "regular" traveling sculpture exhibition was established, inspired by the idea of elephants climbing trees. If you look around, you will still find a few elephants occupying trees! The original sculpture of an elephant in a tree can now be found in Germany.

Quinta dos Vales

Like wine, art develops with heart, care, and precision. Since art and wine have always been closely intertwined, it was clear that these cultural aspects should be combined. Karl Heinz Stock, the owner and developer of Quinta dos Vales, has always been an enterprising entrepreneur, but he has also been actively involved in sculpture. He believed that the estate was the perfect setting to showcase his unusual and sometimes provocative artworks while drawing attention to his wine business. You can visit the estate year-round and learn all about the art available for sale on their website.
