Federal agents in New Jersey have arrested a business partner of DJ Envy on suspicion of real estate fraud.

Cesar Pina, known for his involvement with Envy's program "The Breakfast Club," was recently arrested for fraud through the transfer of funds. He is alleged to have defrauded dozens of victims through a Ponzi scheme-like scheme.

Envy, whose real name is Roshon Casey, has not been charged, but many alleged victims say his fame has affected them. A source familiar with the investigation told NBC 4 that federal agents have visited iHeartRadio's offices and seized electronic equipment as part of an ongoing investigation.

A lawyer for Envy DJ Massimo D'\''Angelo denies such allegations. Envy''partnered with Pina to teach about heritage and home buying to uplift the community in The Breakfast Club program. "I organized these seminars and brought industry professionals to all these seminars," Envy shared on his morning program. "Now, Cesar, if he took money, I didn't know about it and I wasn't aware of it. But I understand how people feel if they gave him money. "

Envy said he empathizes with Pina's victims because he allegedly gave him money himself but did not receive any in return. He denies ever stealing from anyone.

After completing this broadcast, Pina was arrested by federal agents on one count of fraud, to which the co-host pleaded not guilty. He was issued a mandatory summons in the amount of $1''million, but he is under electronic monitoring. As a sanction, he is barred from leaving New Jersey because he could be charged with money laundering.

In the complaint, local U.S. attorney Philip R.

Sellinger said Pina used his celebrity status and social media presence to gain loyal followers-potential victims whom he then exploited. "Pina and his business partner, a well-known DJ and radio host ("Personality-1"), ran a company that conducted real estate seminars across the country. Together, they used Personality-1's celebrity to promote various real estate ventures controlled by Pina. "

According to Yahoo News, Envy's wife, Gia Casey, allegedly deleted''some of her social media posts, which showed numerous items of luxury designer clothing that Envy buys her throughout the year. Envy is known for giving his wife gifts for each of the 12 days leading up to Christmas, which has earned him a reputation as a lover of posh presents.

A few more celebrities have been arrested: A Las Vegas prosecutor became a defendant after police say he tried to solicit an underage girl for sex.

What was the scheme? Starting in 2017, Pina began accepting investments to renovate and resell real estate, promising 20-45% returns in five months throughout New Jersey and elsewhere. According to the data, Pina is accused of rejecting some of the investments''for personal purposes and used the new investments to pay off debt to earlier investors. Shortly before Pina's arrest, NBC 4 New York wrote about several investors who had not received promised payments on the project. Allegedly, Pina scammed investors by soliciting investments in real estate that did not actually belong to him and by offering the same property to multiple investors. He is also charged with attempting to pay off an investor with jewelry. Pina and his wife Jennifer are already facing more than 20 lawsuits.

As mentioned, Pina was released on $1 million bail and is currently restricted to staying only in New Jersey. If he is convicted of fraud with
