Mr. Reichel said the Thai project has been favorably received by many international investors and asked the Thai government to launch a roadshow to promote it in Germany, the minister said.
The Office of Transportation Planning and Transport Policy plans to hold several road shows to promote the project in various countries in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, he said.
While the project will hold public hearings at planned locations in Chumphon and Ranong provinces, a series of promotional events targeting international investment will begin later this month and run through January, Mr. Surya said.
President Seretta Thavisinis also set to promote the project at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings in San Francisco next week.
The Ranong-Chumphon land bridge is the latest in a series of proposals over decades to link the Andaman Sea to the Gulf of Thailand and reduce the need for shipping across the Malacca Strait.
Previous land bridge proposals have failed to generate interest, with opposition from communities and environmentalists. The Ranong-Chumphon land bridge was proposed by the previous government, and the new cabinet has improved it with expectedwith an investment cost of 1 trillion baht.
The results of the ongoing hearings, which will take about two months, will be submitted along with other documents for the environmental impact assessment (EIA), which will be completed by the end of next year, Mr. Surya said.
Then an invitation to tender will be sent to potential investors from April to June 2025 and the results of the bidding will be sent to the cabinet for approval by August of the same year, he added.
