The talk discussed projects in different Indian states with Minister Piyush Goyal: CEO of Emaar Properties Group.
Emaar Properties Group CEO, Amit Jain, said on Friday that he had discussed with Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal about a number of projects in Indian states and the company may make some announcements at the Vibrant Gujarat Summit next year.
The 10th Vibrant Gujarat 2024 World Summit will be held in Gujarat in January next year.
Meetings and trade and investment development
Goyal, who is in the UAE on a two-day visit, held a series of meetings with business representatives and senior leaders to further promote bilateral trade and investment between the two countries.
“We are looking at several areas where we can expand our presence in the real estate sector.... Since Vibrant Gujarat will be held soon, there could be announcements there,” Jain told reporters after a bilateral meeting with the Indian minister.
He also said that India is an important investment destination for Emaar and they intend to continue making future investments in the country. “We talked about our investments already made..... about what Emaar can do in India, we discussed Vibrant Gujarat.... He talked about potential investments in Sabarmati (waterfront) and Kevadia (in Gujarat).
Without disclosing specific projects in India, he said Emaar is the largest real estate investor in India and “we want our investments to be successful”. “We have discussed a number of projects that the minister has also talked about, including the northern states, and we are just working on that to do something truly great in India,” he added.
Meeting with Sharaf and expansion plans
The minister also met Sharapuddin Sharaf, vice chairman of Sharaf Group, a logistics company. Sharaf said that they already have several inland ports in India and are planning to expand with 10 additional locations.
He also noted that they have already invested $400 million and the new expansion will require another $250 million for infrastructure.
Regarding India as a preferred investment destination, Sharaf said that UAE investors see India as a priority for business expansion. He added that India has a very promising business environment.
