Betty Jane France divides inheritance between two children
The will of Betty Jane France divides the estate equally between her two children, Lesa France Kennedy and Brian France, and gives them control of her two trust funds.
Bettie Jane France, wife of former NASCAR chairman Bill France Jr. has died.
Betty Jane France died Aug. 29. A will filed last week in a court in Volusia County, Florida, was dated Nov. 4, 2004 - the same date as the will signed by her husband, who was the son of NASCAR founder Bill France Sr. and died in 2007.
NASCAR, a privately held company owned by the France family under Brian France as chairman and CEO, traditionally does not comment on its ownership structure, and a spokesman''s company said any impact of the will on NASCAR ownership is a personal matter.
Documents from previous lawsuits and other public reports indicate that Lesa France Kennedy and her uncle Jim France - both serving as vice chairmen of NASCAR - have primary control of the company.
Lesa France Kennedy is also CEO of International Speedway Corp, a publicly traded company that operates racetracks.
According to ISC's 2016 proxy, Betty Jane France owned 24.7 percent of the voting stock, which included her share of the France family group's stock. In his will, Bill''France Jr. transferred all votes of the assets of his estate to Betty Jane and Lesa. There is no mention of the estate or such instructions in Betty Jane's will.
