No mortgage in the UK: bought a farm in Bulgaria, moved the family and have no regrets - for how much?
The £300,000 they would have had to pay on their UK mortgage.
They ran into a bit of trouble when the Covid-19 pandemic started and were unable to visit their property until May 2021. When they were finally ready to move in June 2022, Jordan and Lewis informed their family of the move, sold most of their possessions and packed into a caravan. The couple say their quality of life has improved as they have more time to spend with their children and each other.
Although none of their relatives were sure about the decision, the couple have never once regretted their choice. Jordan revealed: "They feel like we suddenly announced our plans to them, but we've had things in place for a long time''Scheduled. A couple who had moved here earlier told us to book a flight because if we didn't book it, we'd never leave. Neither of our families wanted us to leave - partly because I was a new mom. Our kids were young and you always have support in the form of a mom, grandma or aunt - they were scared of what we were going to do. "
The couple explained that they sold most of their possessions to get to Bulgaria, which involved taking a ferry from Bournemouth and hours of travel - 20 days in total. Since then they have been carrying out all the renovations themselves, spending around £5,000. Lewis aims to complete the whole project in ten years. He said: "We're doing really well.
The couple document their renovation journey on their YouTube channel - @frombournemouthtobulgaria - and admit the journey has not been easy, but it has been worth it. Jordan revealed: "I remember arriving in the caravan and parking it in the middle of our allotment and we were unloading stuff. I remember looking at all our stuff with flies on the food and thinking, 'What are we doing?' How many times I said I wanted to go back''home, but now we are in such a different situation. When we arrived, people realized our difficulties and brought us bags of vegetables every day. It was beautiful, the day we arrived, neighbors came to us and helped us get settled.".
