BMW M3 Touring drifts home for Christmas by transporting a Christmas tree.
The M5 Touring is getting a lot of buzz on BMW's social media right now, but the M division doesn't want you to miss out on its little brother. Before lifting the veil on the highly anticipated G99, the G81 does what station wagons do best - haul cargo. The German premium brand has decorated a Christmas tree on the roof of this car and even turned on the lights.
TheM3 Touring has a red paint job with dozens of little M logos like the ones we saw a few days ago on the holiday-wrapped M5 Touring. This isn't just any version of the sporty station wagon, as it comes equipped with several M Performance trim details. Chief among them is an improved exhaust system with two vertically positioned tailpipes mounted''near the center of the carbon fiber diffuser.
In addition to the carbon fiber parts, this high-performance station wagon also features 1000 M wheels in Frozen Gold. Coming home for the holidays, the most practical M3 of all time unfortunately remains forbidden fruit in the United States.

With the M3 Sedan and M4 Coupe/Convertible set to undergo a series refresh in 2024, the M division has accelerated the M3 Touring model. It will probably be released next year, but you'll have to wait until 2025 for the limited CS series. In the meantime, the larger M5 Touring will be introduced in''next year. Hopefully it will be available in the US just in time for next Christmas, or at least we'll get confirmation that it will be introduced on this side of the ocean.
Unfortunately, it's too late for the G81, as the 3 Series Touring hasn't passed type approval for the US. However, there are indications that the G99 has received approval from BMW USA. Only the M5 Touring will come here, so don't count on the regular 5 Series station wagon or the all-electric i5/i5 M60 Touring.
