More affordable interest-free loans to combat the real estate market crisis - French Blue Radio

Amid the crisis in the real estate market, the French economy minister announced the easing of conditions to access a mortgage loan at zero interest rate so that six million more people can benefit from the program.

"Due to rising interest rates, we will expand access to zero-interest mortgages by simplifying the conditions and increasing the limit," said Bruno Lemaire, the economy minister. "This will be done in the coming weeks so that six million more French people can benefit from this program," he added.

This loan allows you to finance part of a real estate purchase - it must be backed by another type of loan - but does not include loan interest and service charges. It can be used if certain conditions are met to purchase a new or older home with energy renovations.

The income limit that must not be exceeded to qualify for the loan depends on where the purchase is made.

The zero-interest loan program will be extended until 2027 and will be reformed to "focus on stressed areas", i.e. the localities where there is the greatest disparity between housing supply and demand. This zone will be extended: 154 new localities will be included in the stressed zones.

The housing minister's target is "40,000 zero interest rate loans next year", just like this year, "but in a smaller area".
