They spent about three years and $25 million to completely renovate the building with the cooperation of developer Michael Banks and architect David Jones.

If the house sells for close to the asking price, it will set a record for the city, surpassing the sale of the circa 1810 mansion, which sold for $24.5 million in 2007.

The limestone-clad mansion has a courtyard with a central fountain. Completed in April 2022, this stately limestone and mansard-roofed mansion offers five bedrooms and nine bathrooms in 16,250 square feet.

The mansion's grounds offer a variety of spaces perfect for outdoor recreation, including a swimming pool, golf course and lounging areas. The home also has a 72-kilowatt generator and geothermal wells that provide cooling.

Bayer, whose fortune is estimated at $72 million, also owns a second home in Palm Beach, for which he paid $12 million to fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger in 2022.
