Future prison in Nuazo: project moves forward, local authorities won't admit defeat'.

While the state still has to conduct soil investigations at the site of the future jail, a request for proposals has already been issued. The mayor and lawmakers are expressing doubts. The 800-bed jail is expected to open on the site in 2027.

To get to the - almost - site of the future prison in Nuazo, you have to walk along a muddy dirt road. Once there, only the highway destroys the tranquility of this rare agricultural land in the Val de Marne... "We're carrying the plow before the bulls!"

Defying expectations, the Department of Justice on November 2, 2023, disclosed a request for proposals to "develop, implement and improve the Nuazo Prison".

There is a tender for''to build an 800-bed prison at a cost of 175.9 million euros, excluding taxes. Candidates need to hurry up because their applications have to be submitted to the ministry by December 5. This is a perfectly normal step in the construction of a public building, but it still provokes some reactions: "It surprises me a bit that a tender has been called because we still don't have information about the moisture and soil studies," Noiso mayor Yvan Femel told Val-de-Marne magazine. "The fauna and flora study should continue for a year and has not been done so far.

Modem MP Modem Mod Petit is not behind either. "I have not received an official communication from the prefect po''this issue,'" the lawmaker said, noting that she has always been accustomed to communicating quite transparently with the state on the prison issue. "And I'm particularly surprised because we don't yet have the results of the study done with Apege." Becoming on the same line as Mayor Nuazo, she expressed as follows: "We are driving the plow before the bulls!"

Agricultural land is not a good place to be

The bulls that may have been on this grazing just a few decades ago on this 17-acre property. The prison site is agricultural land. "The state stands by its position on site selection, and we wonder why.
