On May 2nd, the city of Depok, located in West Java province, saw the opening of the new Indonesian Digital Device Testing Center (IDTH), which was officially inaugurated at the Telecommunication Equipment Testing Center (BBPPT). According to the Minister of Telecommunications and Informatics, Buddi Arie Setiadi, this center has become the largest and most multifunctional testing ground for digital devices in Southeast Asia, meeting international standards.

The minister noted that the main goal of creating this testing complex is toensuring the safety and protection of users of telecommunications devicesthroughout the territory of Indonesia. The center will also promotestandardization of both exported and imported devices, ensuring their compatibility and protection against interference. IDTH is equipped with a variety of modern devices that allow for testing different characteristics of digital gadgets, including radio emissions, electromagnetic compatibility, electrical safety, and specific absorption rate (SAR).

As part of the trials, devices such as the following are being considered:

  • laptops
  • smartphones
  • Bluetooth devices
  • access points
  • digital televisions
  • portable radio transmitters
  • even radars

Buddy Arie Setiyada also emphasized that since its opening, the center has significantly increased its capabilities.

Last year, 644 characteristics were tested, but by 2024, this number will rise to1600In 2025-2026, it is planned to achieve5000 tested characteristics.

In addition, IDTH's functions have become a deeper collaboration with universities forhuman resources developmentThis will allow for adaptation to the latest digital technologies. In his speech, the minister called on practitioners, experts, and researchers to join forces to create new technological solutions. He also suggested that local manufacturers and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) take advantage of the testing services for their devices, using the equipment available at IDTH, completely free of charge.

“We hope that such concrete steps to accelerate digital transformation will make Indonesia more competitive on the international stage, moving us towards achieving the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045,” he concluded. This initiative not only highlighted the importance of testing technologies but also marked new horizons for the industry in the country.
