One of the leading private banks in India is ICICI Bank, which accidentally exposed the details of thousands of new credit cards to customers who were not intended as recipients. ICICI Bank Limited is an Indian multinational bank and finance company headquartered in Mumbai. The bank blocked 17,000 credit cards due to a technical bug in its mobile banking app “iMobile”. The vulnerability allowed users to view other customers' card details, including credit card numbers, expiration dates and CVV codes.

The bank came to know about the problem after some customers reported the issue on social media. ICICI Bank is issuing new credit cards to the affected customers, and promises to compensate for any possible financial losses. The incident has affected about 0.1% of the bank's loan portfolio. Earlier in April 2023, Cybernews researchers reported that ICICI Bank leaked millions of records with sensitive data, including financial information and personal documents of the bank's customers.
