Delta Thailand opens new Delta Plant 8 plant and R&D Center for electric vehicle manufacturing and innovation.
Delta Electronics (Thailand) PCL, a subsidiary of Delta Group, today announced the grand opening of its new Delta Plant 8 and Research and Development (R&D) Center at Bangpoo Industrial Park in Thailand. The event marks an important milestone in Delta Electronics' 35-year history in Thailand and marks the beginning of a new phase of the company's development in electric vehicle (EV) electronics manufacturing and development.
The opening was attended by H.D. Mr. Srett Thavisin, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Thailand, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Industry and the Thai Bureau of Investment (BOI).
The Prime Minister, in his speech, expressed the government's joy at the opening of the new plant and pledged full support to Delta Electronics Thailand as a leading electronics manufacturer and exporter. The company is ready to support Thailand's policies and announced investments to realize the Prime Minister's vision of making Thailand the center of the future mobility and digital economy.
Mr. Victor Chen, CEO of Delta Thailand, said, "Today is a milestone for Delta in Thailand. Since 2010, we have been manufacturing products for electric vehicles in Thailand. Our new Delta Plant 8 aims to meet the growing demand for our EV products, and our R&D Center will develop automotive electronics locally for the first time. We are confident: our significant investment will strongly benefit the industry, economy and environment of Thailand and Southeast Asia."
Delta's electric vehicle products include control products such as on-board chargers and DC/DC converters, as well as powertrain components including inverters and motors, thermal management and passive components. Delta's customers include leading automotive manufacturers from Europe, the United States and Japan.
Delta Thailand has been manufacturing electric vehicle products at the 25,000 square meter Delta Plant 1 since 2010. The new plant and the 30,400 square meter R&D Center are designed to increase production capacity for the fast-growing electric vehicle business. Delta handles all manufacturing automation processes from raw material receipt and storage to preparation, SMT process, PWBA, assembly and testing before shipping the finished product. The investment of nearly three billion baht also showcases Delta's energy-efficient building automation and smart manufacturing solutions to improve productivity and quality on production lines.
Delta Thailand is celebrating 35 years of growth and is the only Thai company to be included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices World Index in the Electronic Equipment, Tools and Components category from 2022 to 2023, as well as receiving the Supplier Engagement Leader 2022 award from CDP for supply chain sustainability. Delta Thailand is now entering a new phase of growth by expanding its presence in the manufacturing and business markets and supporting the development of the next generation automotive and smart electronics industries in Thailand to create a solid foundation for expansion in Southeast Asia.
