Auction house Christie's has announced that a single lot including a 'unique' collection of Mouton Rothschild 2021 wines, a tour of the First Growth estate and an impressive dinner with multi Michelin-starred chef Yannick Alleno sold for €237,500 (£204,300), including buyer's commission, in an auction that concluded on December 8.

Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA collaborated with Christie's for a charity auction that began on December 1 - the same day it was announced that Japanese artist Chiharu Shiota had created an illustration for the Château Mouton Rothschild 2021 label.

The special auction lot included a rare 15-liter 'nebuhadnezar' bottle containing Mouton Rothschild 2021 - the only one released this year. Also in the lot were the Mouton Rothschild 2021 wines present at the auction.

Famous chef Yannick Allaino, with 15 Michelin stars, will also offer the winner and his three guests an immersive experience at his three-star restaurant Le Pavillon Ledoyen in Paris. "They will get to the back stage of this temple of French cuisine and help prepare the service with the chef and his team," Christie's and Mouton Rothschild said in a statement. "They will then dine with Yannick Alleno and the family member who owns Château Mouton Rothschild, with a menu specially designed to pair perfectly with the great vintages of Estet served during the meal. "

The proceeds from the sale will go to charity, the Antoine Alleno Association, and will be used to create a comprehensive support program for families of young victims of third-party violence.

The charity auction also included a private tour and tasting at Mouton Rothschild in Peyacock, as well as the opportunity to attend the unveiling of the estate's 2022 label next year. Mouton Rothschild has commissioned a leading artist to illustrate every vintage since 1945 as part of its "painting on labels" series.
