Another 23 Justice buildings are included in the Affordable Rental Program.

The signing of the protocol between the Institute of Financial Management and Equipment of Justice (IGFEJ) and the Institute of Housing and Urban Rehabilitation (IHRU)

Provides housing facilities in the cities of Alcanena, Barriru, Castelo de Vide, Elvas, Evora, Moimenta da Beira, Oeiras, Ovar, Peniche, Portalegre, Vila Franca de Gira, Redondo and Cascas. Equity advocates from services and agencies will be able to take advantage of the opportunity to lease half of these real estate properties. This is the second protocol signed between these two organizations. A total of 66 properties have already been allocated for this purpose.

As part of the

IHRU will be responsible for conducting the necessary operations to rehabilitate the properties as well as making them available for occupancy under the Affordable Rental Program. These are mostly old magistrates' houses that were vacant and unused. As part of the allocation process, IHRU is committed to providing the opportunity for access to rent half of these properties to employees included in Justice's staffing and organizational structures, provided they meet the criteria of the applicable Program.

This is another step in making the promise of the two state agencies a reality and ensuring that properties that are unused or vacant are made available through the IHRU Post-Rehabilitation Rental Assistance Program. In this way, the government is combining the intentions of the Department of Justice to rehabilitate and optimize former properties and the Department of Housing to make them available to increase the supply of affordable housing.
