This tiny island in Greece wants you to move there — and they will even pay you $20,000.

While dreaming of life on a beautiful Greek island, many of us wonder what it would be like to get rid of everything and settle in such picturesque places. The small Greek island of Antikythera offers a very appealing opportunity for young families looking to make this dream a reality. As reported by the Los Angeles Times, local authorities are even willing to pay for your relocation to this island.

If you decide to move to this sparsely populated island (the official number of residents is only 20 people), you will receive housing, a plot of land, and a monthly allowance of500 eurosfor three years (which totals just over20,000 dollars) from the local Greek Catholic church. Although life on such a nearly uninhabited island may not seem like the most ideal option, for adventurous spirits, it can become a true challenge and an opportunity to settle in a unique place.

Currently, four families have already signed agreements to live on Antikythera, but the island authorities are eager to attract even more newcomers.

The goal of this program is to revitalize the local economy and breathe new life into the island. Although there are no grocery stores, gas stations, or taxis here, the infrastructure continues to develop.

  • A new base for geoscientists studying climate change and its impact on the planet was recently opened here.
  • The island also has its own water source and an autonomous power station.

We hope this innovation will attract a new generation of scientists to the shores of this small island.

The process of selecting families for relocation can take a long time, so you'll need to be patient and just enjoy the wait (perhaps on another island). Follow House Beautiful on Instagram to stay updated.
