This full-floor penthouse in Lisbon has 24 balconies.
A Portuguese penthouse of 334 square meters with panoramic views of Lisbon's historic center has come on the market. The property is located on Avenue de Liberdade, one of the most famous streets in Europe. "This is Lisbon's Chans-Elise with its wide streets and traffic circles," said André Freire, team leader of The Agency's real estate team in Lisbon. "You are surrounded by luxury stores and the best restaurants in the city." Priced at 4.795 million euros ($5.27 million), the penthouse reflects the insatiable demand from foreign buyers for real estate in Lisbon. The average price per square meter of Lisbon real estate is about 5,301 euros, but, Freire said, "prices for such a''Combined two apartments to create a single penthouse in a five-story building with amenities such as a spa, gym and 24-hour security. The penthouse occupies the entire top floor. African flounder wood, prized for its durability, is used on the walls of the apartment, and the ceilings extend to more than 13 feet. The apartment extends into three sections: the living area includes living and dining rooms, office and kitchen; the property area includes three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and its own balcony; and the guest area with its own entrance offers its own bedroom with its own bathroom. Each of the apartment's 24 terraces is decorated with flowers, vines, glyceria, olive and pomegranate trees. Private parking spaces''Apartments are a rarity for Lisbon.
The Pombaline-style building, completed in the early 20th century, was renovated in 2020 in keeping with its original architectural style. "It represents a combination of modern needs with local aesthetics and architecture," Freire said. He expects the buyer to be "someone who wants to move to Portugal and is used to detail, luxury and practicality." Lisbon continues to attract foreign buyers of premium real estate because "Portugal is one of the safest countries in Europe and the world and has one of the highest levels of English proficiency in Europe.

Americans are increasingly buying real estate in Lisbon, Freire said. "Portugal used to be of interest to the British, Germans, Dutch and Brazilians," he said. "Americans are now among the top five main buyers in Portugal. They'"realize that it's only a six-hour flight from New York, and with a comfortable direct flight, they can have their '\'summer home'\' in Lisbon. Last year, nearly 10,000 U.S. citizens lived in Portugal, a 239% increase from 2017. "They often compare living in Lisbon to the California lifestyle, where you're 15 minutes from the water and 25 minutes from the beach. Plus, our airport is only 25 minutes from the center, which is very unusual for Europe.".
