French artist Claudine Longuet is selling her Aspen estate for $60 million.

Over the summer, a 5.4-acre estate in the private Red Mountain Ranch neighborhood near downtown Espen, Colorado, hit the market at an asking price of $80 million. Had it sold anywhere close to that high price, it would have easily broken the current record of $72.5 million - the most expensive home ever sold in this wealthy and famously expensive mountain resort. Unfortunately, since there were no interested buyers willing to break that real estate record, the price has since dropped about 25% to its current $59.5 million.

The marketing material describes it as "Espen's last great property" and "offers privacy, luxury and stunning views from Mt. Aspen to Mt''Mount Sopris'. In addition to the main house, which has three bedrooms and three bathrooms on approximately 3,500 square feet, there is also a studio/guest house of approximately 1,400 square feet with another bedroom and bath, as well as a detached two-car garage. The main house sits directly above a small private pond. Covered with a green metal roof, the wooden two-story main house opens onto an oversized terrace and flagstone poured patio perched above a lawn studded with boulders and surrounding a lovely backdrop of the Rocky Mountain Rockies. The guest cottage, which also has a terrace with stunning mountain views, sits secluded from the main house among mature dwarf poplar and aspen trees.

Great and''Attractive in any season, with a thin creek running through the property, this picturesque property has the potential to be subdivided into multiple parcels, according to an ad by Lex Taroumianza of Aspen Snowmass Sotheby's International Realty and Brian Hazen of Coldwell Banker Mason Morse. A creek runs through the estate's undulating landscape.

Tax documents show that the property is owned by French artist Claudine Longuet, who is in her 80s. In the early 1960s, she broke into the global showbiz sphere by marrying singer Andy "Mr. Christmas" Williams. During her time in the showbiz spotlight, she released numerous albums and starred in many television programs and films, including co-starring with Peter Sellers in the box office''s 1968 box-office hit "The Party" directed by Blake Edwards (she also sang the dreamy song "Nothing to Lose" in the movie). After her divorce from Williams in 1970, Longe moved to Espen, where she led a quiet life among the giants of the ski world. In 1977, she was convicted of the negligent homicide of her then boyfriend, former Olympic skier Spyder Sabich. She later married local Espen lawyer Ron Austin, who represented her in court. The couple also have a longtime home in Hawaii.
