The design reinforces the estate's openness to the richness of the surrounding countryside by creating large areas of gardens planted with native plants that frame views of the valley.

The photo above shows a French estate located on the banks of the Loire River in Igerande. The grounds are home to the acclaimed La Colline du Colombier restaurant and hotel, which opened in 2008. Soon after, the family owners turned to architect Patrick Bouchene to revitalize the rural complex.

The restored agrarian buildings feature finishes of unfinished concrete, brick, stone and compacted earth. Reclaimed timber beams and frames add warmth to the spacious rooms, which are illuminated by natural light thanks to full glazed walls.

The surrounding gardens have been designed by Liliana Motta, who has used low hedges and native plant and tree species (including acacias and oaks) throughout. Picturesque views across the valley can be enjoyed in all directions.

The restored estate, located in Saône et Loire, France, is now listed for sale at €2,630,000 (approximately $2,768,627) by agency Architecture de Collection.

Three canted cottages, inspired by the traditional stone huts of the region, have private outdoor areas.

Bushen wrapped the sleeping areas in large buildings with hemp, jute, and sheep wool.
