A French chateau in Greater Cincinnati is up for auction after being named the region's most expensive property.
7-acre property in northern Kentucky was previously listed for sale for nearly $9 million. DeCaro Auctions International, a real estate auction house, announced that a megamansion in northern Kentucky - one of the most expensive offerings on the real estate market in the Cincinnati area - will be auctioned off. Built in 2013, the 15,000-square-foot mansion sits on a seven-acre lot in Edgewood, Kentucky, 15 miles south of Cincinnati. The property is currently listed for sale at $6.9 million and will be sold at a live auction with no reserve on Oct. 14, according to DeCaro Auctions International.

Inspired by the houses of France and''is "a masterpiece that lives up to its name," according to Daniel DeCaro, president and founder of DeCaro. "European architecture reflects artistic excellence and impeccable workmanship." According to reports, the property first came on the market in July 2021 for nearly $9 million, making it the most expensive home in the Cincinnati area, including northern Kentucky and eastern Indiana.
The home features details such as wrought iron, carved decorative elements, cassette ceilings and marble and moldings, according to the listing. This extends to an impressive staircase with iron railings and''s two-story wooden library.
The gourmet kitchen has a four-seat island, two ovens and a breakfast area, ad photos show. It opens to a living room with a fireplace, cathedral ceilings and French doors leading to the pool.
The house has six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, including a master suite with fireplace and sitting area, sun room and bathroom with dual sinks and glamping nook.
Other amenities include an elegant game room with billiards, a living room and lap bar, a home theater and a four-car garage. Outside, there is an infinity pool, hot tub and pool house with guest rooms, the listing says.
The house was last changed''s owner in 2010 for $818,000, real estate records show. The owner of the home is a man of mystery and speculation has been going around for several years, according to Cincinnati Magazine. Viewings for the home are scheduled to begin Saturday.
