If you're going to try on a white T-shirt, blue jeans and a leather wristband on Halloween to become Freddie Mercury at Live Aid, you're definitely not alone.
Of course, if you want to add something special, you might want to collect coins and purchase some real fetish clothing from the great musician's closet to add authenticity to your Mercury look.
Two gay vintage tops that belonged to the late music icon will be offered for sale at a Nathan D. Sanders auction on Oct. 26, just in time to start preparing for holiday costume.
First''The T-shirt is a red ribbed T-shirt from 1980s London gay pub The Market Tavern.
Made from stretch cotton, it's a small size and features an image of a muscular male figure next to the bar's name 'Market Tavern' on the front.
The Market Tavern thrived as a gay hot spot in the '80s and '90s, and Mercury allegedly frequented its skin nights. The bar was demolished to build a new London Underground station.
The second T-shirt in the "Bohemian Rhapsody" singer's personal collection has a more passionate story.
The white jersey with maroon ribs was purchased at the Fisherman'\''s Club gay bathhouse in Munich, Germany.
The T-shirt features an attractive sporty fisherman with the name of the sauna underneath. This retro T-shirt is sized S and''corresponds to approximately 13.25" wide and 23" long.
The shirts are said to be in "very good condition," have provenance and authenticity confirmed by Sotheby'\''s, and starting bids start at $20,000.
These are just the latest items from Mercury's personal estate to go up for sale.
Last month, Sotheby'\''s auctioned 1,400 items belonging to the gay legend, which fetched a whopping $50.4 million.
Mercury's piano was sold for $2.2 million and "Bohemian Rhapsody" lyrics sold for an impressive $1.7 million, according to People.
After his tragic death from AIDS in 1991, Mercury bequeathed his fortune to his good friend and ex''beloved Mary Austin.
For more than 30 years Mercury's London home has remained unchanged since his passing, but Austin said she has finally decided to part with its treasures.
"The time has come for me to make a difficult decision and close this special chapter in my life," Austin, 72, told the BBC, noting that she is selling everything but a few gifts and personal photographs.
Original Queen band members Brian May and Roger Taylor continue to perform with Adam Lambert. Under the name Queen + Adam Lambert, the band recently launched the North American leg of The Rhapsody Tour and paid tribute to Mercury's legacy.
"We're doing this with Freddie in our hearts, and I know he's in your heart," Lambert said at a show in Baltimore, according to USA Today.
Whatever'. 'whether you plan to recreate Mercury's image or not, everyone can enjoy revisiting his epic performance at Live Aid in 1985.
