British people looking to move to Portugal have been given extra time to buy property to qualify for a golden visa - the fastest and easiest route to residency after Brexit.
This week, the Portuguese government announced an increase in the processing time for the fast-track residency program from July 2021 to January 2022. The offer applies to properties purchased in Lisbon, Porto and coastal areas such as the Algarve, while in low-density regions - the Azores and Madeira - it remains in place until next year.
The golden visa allows applicants and their families to work, live and study in Portugal and spend more than the two 90-day periods per year in the Schengen area that Britons now face.
