Golubic thieves caught with hidden booty in industrial Valencia, Spain

The Spanish Civic Guard recovered 17 stolen hound pigeons in the town of Massanassa thanks to the unusually slow speed of the hijackers. While on night patrol, Guardsmen stopped a suspicious slow-moving vehicle in an industrial area. Inside, the drivers were in for a surprise - 17 pigeons, not firmly secured in their cages and flapping their wings in panic.

As a result, two men and a 15-year-old boy of Spanish nationality were arrested on theft charges because they were unable to provide identification for the pigeons.

One of the pigeons had a ring with a phone number on it, and police officers called the number to contact a grateful farmer who confirmed that his birds had been stolen.

The 17 pigeons are valued at 20,000 euros, they are specially trained for racing and have a high breeding value. The theft was another in a series of robberies of racing pigeons in the Valencian Community. Last November, 120 birds were stolen from a pigeon hound in Benidorm, and two months ago, minors broke into the club and stole another 18 pigeons.
