Based on thirty indicators, we compared the quality of life in 140 French communes near the border with Luxembourg.

Daily, about 96,000 people living in France cross the border to work in Luxembourg. The number has almost tripled in twenty years and the demand for foreign labor in the Grand Duchy has not abated.

There are 8,571 job vacancies in fields such as information technology, banking and financial advice. The country attracts skilled workers with attractive salaries (an average of 6,000 euros per month, before taxes) and social benefits.

The rising standard of living of frontier workers in Luxembourg has been beneficial for many communes on the French side, in the Upper East. They've evolved a lot. "Fortunately, we have Luxembourg," they say in this region. However, the consequences were far from being the same everywhere.

In this context, we compared the quality of life in 140 communes close to the Grand Duchy, in three departments: the Meurthe-et-Moselle, the Meuse and the Moselle. Find out which ones offer the best living conditions for border workers.
