In accordance with paragraph 3 of Annex B of the Agreement on Succession Issues, Slovenia is entitled to the sum of 7 million US dollars or 14% of the total sale price of the building of the former SFRY delegation in New York. With the signing of the contract, the 120-day period for the transfer of the property to the buyer and payment of the purchase price began.

20 years after the signing of the Succession Agreement and five years after the decision of the successors to sell it jointly was an unqualified success. The entire joint sale process was quite complex and time consuming, requiring a great deal of coordination between the successors, the real estateagency and''lawyers.

Since the dissolution of the former commonwealth, the building has been used by the Republic of Serbia as a diplomatic mission. The building, located across from Central Park, was built in 1905 and designed by architects Warren and Wetmore, who also planned the famous Grand Central Station in New York City. It is the last surviving palace of Cornelius Vanderbilt.

The former SFRY purchased the building in 1946, the funds to buy it largely raised by immigrants with Louis Adamich, a Slovenian-American writer, at the helm.

The building was continuously used by the former SFRY as its representative office at the United Nations in New York. The building has an area of about 1,500 square meters,''It has five floors and a basement. The building has 26 rooms, seven bathrooms, two elevators and 14 fireplaces. The interior is very richly furnished, the building has several works of art, especially paintings and tapestries, stucco walls and ceilings and paintings, a wooden reception and library, crystal chandeliers and several gilded interior elements.

With the sale of the real estate delegation of the former SFRY in New York, the countries managed to sell the last of the five real estate properties of the former SFRY that had been the subject of a joint sale since 2017 (previously, the countries sold the residence of the former SFRY in New York, the embassy of the former SFRY in Bonn and the embassy/residence of the former SFRY in Bern and Tokyo). Over the past six years, the successors have been actively negotiating the distribution''diplomatic assets of the former SFRY and brought the process of dividing diplomatic property into its final phase.
