Civil society is demanding that parties initiate an investigation in parliament - Politics - The Jakarta Post

No smoke without fire: protesters from various groups burn tires as they gather outside the House of Representatives on March 3, 2024, to support a House investigation into allegations of voter fraud.
Civil society organizations are urging political parties to exercise their right to investigate by launching a House of Representatives inquiry into allegations of electoral fraud, which remain relevant less than two weeks before the official announcement of the PKI winners.
An alliance of about 50 activists, members of civic groups and experts sent a letter Saturday to five political parties that supported rivals of presumptive presidential election winner Prabowo Subianto, urging them to launch a House of Representatives investigation into "glaring indications" of fraud surrounding last month's presidential election.
Although the letter did not detail the allegations of fraud, some experts and activists have accused President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's administration of using state resources to benefit Prabowo and his running mate, Jokowi's eldest son Gibran Rakabuming Raka, since the start of the campaign.
After February 14 and during the vote counting process, posters on social media and opponents of Prabowo also claimed to have found evidence of voter intimidation and inflated vote counts for the chairman of the "Gerindra" party, which ultimately led to a call for an investigation by the Presidential candidate Ganjjar Prono.
The group stated in its letter that suspicions of falsification could undermine democracy in Indonesia and erode public trust in the new government and members of the House if left unaddressed.
“Political parties [...] should urge the House of Representatives to exercise its right to investigate in order to uncover the facts behind the broad allegations of electoral fraud.
