Georgia: 20.3% and 17.3% growth in personal income and expenditure respectively - 2022
In 2022, the average monthly income of Georgia's population grew by 17.3 percent and expenditures by 20.3 percent, according to the State Statistics Service.
The average monthly income of the population (including monetary and non-monetary income) amounted to GEL 1,596.1 million, which is 17.3 percent more than in 2021.
According to the data for 2022, the average monthly income of the population in urban areas increased by 19.0 percent to GEL 1,453.8 and in rural areas increased by 18.6 percent to GEL 432.7.
According to the results of the survey, the main share of the population's incomes is monetary incomes and transfers, which increased by 0.9 percent and amounted to 86.9 percent.
According to the State Statistics Service, the total''expenditures of the population of Georgia increased by 14.9 percent and amounted to GEL 967.9 million in urban areas, while in rural areas increased by 21.4 percent and amounted to GEL 628.1 million.
The share of income derived from paid work continues to grow in the structure of income and expenditure in 2022, increasing by 2.2 percent to cover 12.4 percent.
The share of income derived from pensions, scholarships, and welfare payments decreased by 1.0 percent to 21.6 percent.
In 2022, the total expenditures of the population of Georgia amounted to GEL 1,551.9 million, which is 20.3 percent more than in the previous year.
The average monthly expenditures of the population increased by 22.0 percent to GEL 1,413.6, while total expenditures increased by 21.7''percent and amounted to 420.7 GEL.
Alcohol and tobacco expenditures continue to occupy the largest share in the structure of expenditures of the population of Georgia, accounting for 41.8 percent and decreased by 1.9 percent compared to the previous year.
