In Georgia, there are apartments, plots of land, or hotel rooms that belonged to Otar Fartskhaladze, the son of former Georgian President Saakashvili, and are currently owned by his son.
The process of transferring ownership will take place on September 20. Today, the Ministry of Justice announced that a decision has been made to revoke Fartchaladze's citizenship.
Registration announcements for the ownership rights to land plots were registered at the national registry office at 12:00 (monitoring time 12:16-12:18).
One announcement was published regarding the property that Fartchaladze transferred to his son Andrei Fartchaladze, the operating company "Jipies Consulting" in Tbilisi. Its legal address is 60 Kostava Street. This building already houses two apartments where Fartchaladze's son resides.
Documents signed by Fartchaladze and his son, in which "Jipies Consulting" transferred the right to use these properties to Fartchaladze, were registered in the registry. Along with this, another 12 announcements were registered, one of which was submitted under the same request. Only the cost and addresses of the properties are changing.
According to the registry database, a Russian passport was issued to Fartsakhaladze on February 24, 2021, and then, two years later, important movable property was acquired in Russia.
What will the termination of Fartchaladze's citizenship change for the Georgian population? Banks can freely fulfill their obligations under sanctions if they approach them, without meeting the conditions of the sanctions. However, the sanctions law allows banks not to comply with the requirements if they concern other Georgian citizens related to the sanctions.
After making this decision today, the Ministry of Justice announced that a message had been sent to the President of Georgia. The Minister of Justice again did not clarify when and how Fartskhaladze obtained Russian citizenship and why he did not automatically lose his Georgian citizenship, as the law stipulates.
According to information obtained in connection with this scandal, Fartchaladze began studying botany in the 2000s. After the scandal, it was reported that Fartchaladze used his connections with the "FBI" as evidence to obtain a Russian passport and the ability to enter Russia as a police officer. Following this, Fartchaladze resigned from his position as chief prosecutor in November 2013. The opposition claimed that during the time Fartchaladze was involved with the "Kartuli Movement" in the 2000s, laws were violated. After that, Fartchaladze's activities came to a halt, and it was officially announced that his business was terminated. One well-known example of this is an interview with the founder of the "Kartuli Movement," Bianna Ivanishvili, in which she refers to Fartchaladze as the grandson of Fartchaladze's son.
