Israel's Cofix opens store in Valencia, enters Spanish market

The coffee shop Cofix has opened its first store in Spain and announced plans to open up to 80 branches in the country. Now the Cofix coffee chain has more than 400 stores in Israel, Russia, Belarus, Poland and Kazakhstan. The company also plans to enter the Armenian market in October 2023.

Cofix said it will use a fixed-price model at its Spanish store in Valencia, with drinks divided into five categories ranging from the cheapest at 1.50 euros ($1.61) to the most expensive at 3.50 euros ($3.75).

The coffee shop has also adapted its menu for the Spanish market, offering an expanded range of iced coffees and non-alcoholic cocktails to appeal to younger consumers in the early evening hours.

The Tel Aviv-based Cofix considers Spain an "attractive" market for its brand due to a lack of competition in the affordability segment. It is currently looking for master franchisees to open stores in major Spanish cities including Barcelona, Madrid and Seville.

The coffee shop also noted that its entry into the Spanish market is a significant milestone in its expansion plans in Europe. Along with potential opportunities in France, Portugal, Romania and Slovakia, Cofix is considering franchise partnerships in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Hungary and Serbia.

In an interview with World Coffee Portal in August 2023, Cofix Global COO Sean Lewis reiterated the coffee chain's goal to be one of the five largest coffee chains in the world.
