How to save money in crisis: gold, real estate or land? | Society and Economy

The favorite investments among Serbs are gold and real estate. The farming field is also a long-term investment, and starting in 2009, the hunt for digital gold began. How to save money in times of crisis and is it worth putting everything in one basket?

The benefits of gold

I mentioned that gold is up 10% a year and interestingly, it is risk free. I believe that by doing this for a long time, it will continue to grow. However, it does not bring active income - explains the director of "Insignitus folda" Luba Jakic.

Real estate as an investment

The second place of investment is real estate. Investment gold is easy to buy and sell. As of 2018, no VAT is levied on it. Nevertheless, investment gold was sold in Serbia last year for only one percent of what citizens keep in banks.

After savings, the second place of favorite investments of Serbs is real estate. It provides security, it can be rented out, and it provides an annual return of about four percent of the money invested. But this investment isn't without its drawbacks either. Real estate is a good investment, but it is not liquid enough if we need to sell it urgently, and we need to know that - says Dragan Dejkovic from Goldenspejsa.

Agricultural land

Like gold, agricultural land is a long-term investment. However, unlike gold, where one earns only on the difference in price, in this case one can earn additional income from rent or yield from the land. However, land does not have the mobility of gold and is harder to sell, and there are factors that cannot be influenced, says broker Branislav Jorgic.

The hunt for digital gold

In 2009, an unknown creator created bitcoin and the hunt for digital gold began. To him, today's annual returns average between 100 and 200 percent, but there can be a loss. You can't talk about long-term periods of 20, 30, 50 years, because the real question is what happens to this technology after such a long period of time. In the medium term, two, three or five years, its outlook is strong, says Tesla kripto executive director вЂura Bajiћ.
