HomeGeorgia's representatives. She intends to run in District 145, which includes much of Central Georgia. The boundaries of that district were redrawn by the Legislature in a special session in December after a judge overturned the original districts because of a lawsuit over fair representation of black voters.

"Redistricting will not change my commitment. My Middle Georgia roots and deep ties to Robins Air Force Base, education and local businesses make me uniquely qualified to represent our shared interests and values," she said.

Herring previously ran for election in District 143. She also earned a bachelor's degree from Georgian College and post-graduate degrees from Fort Valley State University and Mercer University in Macon.

She taught for 28 years in the City of Atlanta school system, where she was recognized as Teacher of the Year while working at Morris Brandon Elementary School.

“The call to serve Middle Georgia is more relevant now than ever,” Herring said. "Our region deserves much better than the current leadership at the state capitol. I'm not just running for the seat; I'm ready to make a difference, to fight for the public safety, education, health care and housing that every person in District 145 rightfully deserves.
