Messina Denaro: trips to Montenegro for casino gambling and business deals in fishing in Tunisia. In Sicily over the past two years.
In 2017, microphones were turned on in the Palermo estate to intercept conversations of the head of the Mafia clan of Partanna, a town in the province of Trapani. One of his most trusted men explained, "...says he was in Calabria and came back...". They were talking about "Matteo", the same Matteo Messina Denaro who was arrested after five and a half years. Then the noise of a sheet of paper is heard. They read a note from the fugitive in which meetings were scheduled after his return from Calabria: "...come in here and the Christians will go...". Then mentions "his sister, his sister..... here ... it's written in a note... see? He writes that he has decided...".
That's why Andrea Bonafede became a spacer for the boss: friendship since childhood, threats and awe-inspiring fear. Yesterday and today, Calabria finds itself once again in the period of flight of Matteo Messina Denaro. The Mafia boss, arrested on January 16 this year in Palermo, has traveled extensively both in Italy and abroad, for business and pleasure.
With the help of documents found in a hideout in Campobello di Mazara, the life of the Trapani capo is being reconstructed. There is a "before" and an "after", the tumor became the dividing line between the cautious and secretive Messina Denaro and Messina Denaro, who had to be treated and from 2020 decided to do so in Sicily, lowering the level of protection.
The link between the mafia clans of Trapani and the Calabrian 'ndrangheta has long existed. This connection is based on the drug business. It is likely that Messina Denaro visited Calabria to develop a drug business that allowed him to get a lot of money, which he spent while on the run.
In a hideout on Via San Vito in Campobello di Mazara is the boss's bookkeeping, which is constantly updated and increased: he spent up to 15 thousand euros a month. Ros Carabinieri officers are investigating the fugitive's stay in Calabria and his trips abroad.
Spain, Tunisia, Albania and Montenegro were his stops for various reasons.

Messina Denaro's hidden interests may have been covered up by the interests of some fishing industry entrepreneurs. In Africa in particular, some of the interests are centered on Guiseppe Guttadauro, a doctor and boss from the Brancaccio area who recently returned to prison. In Morocco, in Larache, the Guttadauros are in the business of selling fresh fish. Guiseppe Guttadauro is the brother of Filippo, one of the fugitive's sons-in-law (he married Rosalia's sister). The company run by the Guttadauros in the province of Palermo employed Maria Mezi, who had a romantic relationship with the fugitive in the past. The woman and her brother were re-involved in the investigation after Messina Denaro's arrest. There are recent contacts with relatives of the former fugitive that deserve to be investigated in more detail.
It has also been established, through several investigations by the Anti-Mafia Prosecutor's Office in Palermo, that tons of foreign processed tobacco enter Sicily from North Africa, hidden among the crates of fish delivered by fishing boats through the Strait of Sicily. The presence in Albania remains a mystery. Nothing leaks out, but the drug business continues to be monitored. Luca Bellomo, husband of Lorenza Guttadauro, who is not only the niece of a Mafia ringleader (daughter of Rosalia and Filippo Guttadauro's sister) but also his lawyer, was intercepted in Tirana, Albania, before his arrest and sentencing to 10 years in prison. Messina Denaro allegedly sent Luca Bellomo as his envoy and then came himself with the aim, investigators say, of establishing contacts with the authorities and the business community.
The situation with Montenegro is different. There are no affairs and secrets here, only the passion for gambling made Messina Denaro visit the casinos of Montenegro. Under which of the many names he used? Not under the name of the surveyor Andrea Bonafede, in whose skin he presented himself in order to receive treatment and surgery in Mazar del Vallo and Palermo. At one point Messina Denaro returned home so that he could not deal with the illness alone.
