Rob said it was a risk, but he enjoys working on a house that was built more than 100 years ago and was in a state of disrepair.

For many, the dream of owning their own home has proved unattainable. But one man took drastic action after becoming disillusioned with the UK's housing problems.

Rob Davies, father-of-two, 35, spotted a dilapidated''A six-story house on eBay for a fraction of the cost of a house back home. There was one small problem - the house was in Bulgaria. However, as he was unsuccessful in buying a property on the west coast of Scotland, he decided to take the risk.

Rob's story is told in the latest season of Channel 4's 'Help! I Bought A Village"

Rob's new home, a detached house on a half-acre lot, was reportedly built more than 100 years ago, but has been vacant and abandoned since the 1980s. The house lacks bathrooms, a kitchen, windows, electricity and plumbing. However, Rob assures that he is not intimidated by the challenge, but is just happy to invest in his family's future.
