A 48-year-old man under the influence of drugs has been detained in Thailand's Phayao province for setting fire to his grandmother's house.

The fire, which started in the man's bedroom, quickly engulfed the entire property, causing significant property damage but no loss of life.

Local police have also charged the man with arson and drug use, after illegal substances were found in his system.

Arriving on the spot in Ban Pin Subdistrict, police officers found a stunning fire in a single-storey house. It took them an hour to tackle the fire, but not before it had completely destroyed the property.

A seventy-year-old female homeowner reported that her grandson started a fire in her room. The rapid spread of the flames turned her house into ruins.

Authorities immediately apprehended the 48-year-old suspect and conducted a urine test that tested positive for drugs. As a result, he was charged with arson and drug charges.

As reported in KhaoSod, the case will be heard under the law.

Meanwhile, a fire broke out in another one-story wooden house belonging to a 39-year-old man named Narongdech in Don Sri Chum Subdistrict, Phayao Province.
