The start of a major update - Slammin' Mac Studio: a new level of hardware [customizable]

The huge upgrade of computer installation is a significant growth for any user. And today's virtual station, while looking unassuming, has gotten a stunning upgrade. The Mac Mini, dating back to 2012, has finally retired after a long career. And it's been replaced by the latest and most powerful Mac Studio M2 Max, which has the latest model MacBook Air.

A Portuguese Reddit user with the nickname PBRarq showed off his vastly improved computer rig in a post titled "My New Rig." Apparently, the refurbished installation has advanced more than a decade in processing power, visual splendor, and even sound quality.

So, how much have they upgraded the rig? Here's what a user had to say:

"After using a 2012 Mac Mini and two Dell 24 inch monitors, I consider this a pretty great setup. Mac Studio M2 Max 2, LG 32un650 which has the same display as the 880. A pair of Bowers MM1s. MacBook Air for traveling.".

These are serious updates. Even the base model Mac Studio M2 Max beats the 2012 annual Mac Mini. The newest Mac mini with a powerful configuration will compete with the Mac Studio versions, but a 13 year old mini with an Intel processor?

These aren't the only updates. Two 24-inch Dell monitors, most likely at 1080p resolution, have been replaced by 32-inch LG UltraFine 4K displays at 3820 x 2160 pixels. It's a nice visual boost and larger screens that add 8 inches of headroom each.

The rig doesn't lag behind in the audio department either. It's not entirely clear from the post whether the excellent speakers on the desk are also new, but it looks like they are.

They've been available for years - since 2010 - but this is probably the first appearance of the Bowers & Wilkins MM-1 Hi-Fi Computer Speakers in our coverage of the systems, which are currently priced at $534 on Amazon (see. below).

This English brand, with a history dating back to 1966, is legendary for its high quality audio speakers and headphones. So when PBR added these monitor-quality speakers, it was probably a major breakthrough in desktop audio quality.
