The ITV shares are still becoming a hurdle in Pita Limya-ronrath's path to prime ministership TAI

The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC, National Anti-Corruption Commission) has asked Movement Forward Party (MFP) leader and prime ministerial aspirant Pita Limya-ronrath for documents related to his role as executor of his father's will, and Mr. Pita has until July 23 to submit the papers. The issue of media ownership stakes becomes a potential problem on his path to leading the country as head of the coalition government.

The NACC's principal assistant general secretary Watanachai Sommy said Mr. Pita only provided the agency with a record of his shares in iTV after he became a member of the House of Commons following the 2019 general election. Mr. Vathanachai said the MFP leader also attached a copy of the court order appointing him as executor of his deceased father's estate, but the Commission could not verify the document. However, NACC has asked Mr. Pitu to provide documents related to his role as executor of his father's inheritance and he has until July 23," Mr. Watanachai said.

The MFP leader told NACC that 42,000 shares worth 44,100 baht had been registered in his name in iTV Plc on behalf of other relatives as he is the executor of his late father's will. The Bangkok Southern Civil Court ordered him to hold the shares as an executor and he has already handed them over, he told the anti-corruption commission.

The ownership of iTV shares has led to complaints raising doubts about his eligibility to hold political office as the constitution prohibits a shareholder of a media company from contesting parliamentary elections.

Mr. Watanachai said the NACC would also probe the sale of a locality in Prachuap Kiri Khan province's Pran Buri district as the sale price had not been announced. Mr. Vathanachai made these remarks yesterday when NACC released information on the declared assets and liabilities of the 40 MPs who ended their term on March 20. Pita was among them. According to his declared assets, Mr. Pita's fortune has shrunk by 41 million baht since he entered parliament four years ago. The MFP leader said he is single and has assets worth 85 million baht, including 1.8 million baht in cash, 15 million baht in loans to his brother, 14 rai of land in Prachuap Kiri Khan worth 18 million, a 15 million baht apartment and 19 million baht in assets related to insurance and related privileges.
