Heating systems are missing in almost half of the apartments in Serbia

In Serbia, three percent of dwellings do not have sewage systems, four percent do not have water systems, and as many as 46 percent of dwellings are not equipped with heating systems, according to the Republican Institute of Statistics.

There are 3,613,352 dwellings in Serbia, of which 2,625,711 are occupied, 633,842 are not occupied, 288,883 are temporarily used, and 64,916 are used for commercial purposes.

A dwelling is considered to have a plumbing system if at least one room has a plumbing system, whether it is connected to a city, local or rural water supply, pump or special pumps, or not connected at all.

While four percent of residences do not have plumbing systems, RIS data show that 75 percent of residences are connected to city water, 11 percent are connected to rural/local water, "other" is indicated for nine percent, and for one percent the status is unknown.

Dwellings with "other" types of plumbing systems include those with pumped systems or where water is supplied by self-gravity flow. This group also includes premises where systems have been installed but are not yet connected.
