To compensate for the decline in real estate sales, developers are offering numerous promotions to attract customers and convince them to buy a property.

This fall, real estate developers are offering promotions at every turn. In Alsace, a worker met by a France 2 film crew received a coupon for 2,000 euros at a furniture company when he bought an apartment.' ''Without this offer, I would not have been able to afford to buy an apartment and therefore have a better kitchen,'' he says. In Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), the offer is even more tempting: a payment of 500 euros a month for four years. Without this discount, the firm manager interviewed by France Télévisions would not be able to become a proprietor as the interest rate on loans continues to rise. The monthly payments would have been too high for a single father. "I think it reassured the banker that I mentioned the offer to him. It was the moment to buy a new apartment," he details.
